I am a Professor of Strategy and Organizations in the department of Management & Technology at Bocconi University. My research focuses on understanding mechanisms and returns to informal network relationships defined within and across organizations. In particular, I study the social context of intra- and inter-organizational ties focusing on social networks, knowledge management, innovativeness, and performance. 

I received my M.S. and Ph.D. in Industrial Administration from Carnegie Mellon University.  My recent research has appeared in such journals as the Academy of Management Journal, the Annals of the Academy of Management, Strategic Management Journal, Organization Science, Organization Studies, and European Management Journal among others. 

I am a member of the Editorial Board of the Academy of Management Review, Academy of Management Journal and Organization Science and I serve as a referee for research projects presented at the National Science Foundation (NSF) of the United States, the Swiss National Science Foundation, the French National Research Agency (ANR) and the Austrian National Science Foundation (FWF).  

My teaching experience includes courses on Competitive Strategy at the MBA, Executive MBA, and Global Executive MBA level. In addition to that, I routinely teach modules on social networks, organizational change, and strategy implementation in several in-company executive education programs.

I have extensive experience designing and delivering executive education programs with companies in a variety of industries such as utilities (Enel, Endesa), telco (Telefonica, Wind) financial services/insurance (Banesto, Deutsche Bank, Rabobank, Santander, Zurich), consulting services (Boston Consulting Group, Pricewaterhouse Coopers), car manufacturing/car components (Faurecia, Goodyear, Opel, Nissan), personal products (L’Oreal, Henkel), and food (Ferrero).
