• Aim of the conference

 

The aim of the workshop is to allow for in-depth scientific interactions among researchers interested in the underground economy, tax evasion, and fiscal policy from a macroeconomic perspective. The conference accepts both theoretical and empirical contributions.

 

• Topics

 

Theoretical and empirical models of the underground economy and tax evasion; theory of (optimal) taxation; fiscal policy and behavior of economic agent; tax evasion, underground economy in (dynamic) general equilibrium models; fiscal policy in open economies; underground economy from the demand side; experiments; criminal economy; statistical models in sector studies, alternative strategies and models for solving the hard-to-tax, methods for selecting taxpayers to audit.

The research project Macroeconomic and Policy Implications of Underground Economy and Tax Evasion has been presented by four Universities (University of Naples Parthenope, Bocconi University, Università della Tuscia, University of Catania). The project has been founded by MIUR through PRIN 2008. The national project has been coordinated by Bruno Chiarini (University of Naples Parthenope); the local research units have been coordinated by Marco Maffezzoli (Bocconi University and IGIER); Mauro Marè (Università della Tuscia); Giorgio Skonieczny (University of Catania).
