Course Objectives

The aim of the course is to create awareness of the prevailing ICT technologies in university and company environment and the opportunities these technologies offer. Also, to improve the practical use of the most popular among personal and collaboration productivity tools.

Course Content Summary

The course is divided in four areas of expertise integrated together to reach the intended objectives:

  • LEARN AND UNDERSTAND: learn about the technologies and tools available, understand their potential taking into account the constraints and ethical use of ICT, stay current on the state of the art
  • FIND AND COLLECT: find useful information on the Web (for both study and work), assess quality and opportunities to use it, collect and store data according to their goals
  • PROCESS AND ANALYZE: effectively use the right tools to process information in a consistent format, according to the intended use (worksheet and database)
  • SHARE AND COMMUNICATE: choose and effectively use the right tools to share and communicate the results of their work (presentation tools, communication, knowledge sharing etc.)

The course syllabus is available on the http://www.unibocconi.eu/sedin website.

Detailed Description of Assessment Methods

The exam can be taken in two ways: with two partial exams or as a single general exam.

The set of two partial exams is intended for students who regularly attend the lessons since they specifically refer to topics discussed in the classroom and to the attending students’ bibliography.

For both partial and general exam sessions, the exam consists of questions and practical exercises with the PC.

Prerequisites

To attend the exam for this course, one of the following certifications recognized by Università Bocconi is required: complete ECDL Core, complete ECDL Advanced, IC3 2005 Plus, MOS Master, MCAS Master.

Once students obtain one of the mentioned certifications, they have to communicate the completion to SEDIN. This has to be done in different ways, according to the certification obtained:

  • if the certification is ECDL Core, obtained in Italy, by using the yoU@B personal diary: in the ECDL box there is a Communicate ECDL completion for prerequisite link. Click on the link and complete the online procedure;
  • if the certification is ECDL Core, obtained (entirely or partially) abroad, by going to SEDIN office during opening hours, bringing the Skills Card and the original certification;
  • if the certification is ECDL Advanced, MOS Master, IC3 2005 Plus or MCAS Master, by going to SEDIN office during opening hours, bringing the original certification and the score reports.

Important: The deadline for the prerequisite completion and communication is 4 work-days before the exams date. The communication received after the deadline won't be considered.

SEDIN verifies the fact before recording the prerequisite. If the prerequisite wasn't achieved within the right terms, the registration for the exam is cancelled.

Students that still don't have one of the mentioned certifications, can achieve it in Bocconi University, by using the ECDL Test Center. It is strongly suggested to achieve the certification as soon as possible, before the course starts.

For further information on ECDL, please visit the ECDL Core page on the www.unibocconi.eu/sedin web site.

  • Se la certificazione è l'ECDL Coreconseguita in Italia, è sufficiente fare clic, nel box ECDL della propria agenda personale (yoU@B), sul link Comunicazione completamento ECDL per richiesta prerequisito;
  • Se l'ECDL Core è stata conseguita all'estero (tutta o in parte), è necessario recarsi di persona alla segreteria SEDIN presentando la Skills Card completa e l'attestato;
