  • Se si tratta di certificazione ECDL Core (Full o Full Standard) conseguita in Italia, questo avviene automaticamente;

Course Objectives

The aim of the course is to create awareness of the prevailing ICT technologies in university and company environment and the opportunities these technologies offer, getting students up to date on the state of the art and trends in the field of ICT. Also, to improve the practical use of the most popular among personal and collaboration productivity tools in a professional environment, showing their logic and functionalities in the solution of real problems.

Course Content Summary
The course is divided into four areas of expertise:
  • LEARN AND UNDERSTAND: learn about the technologies and tools available; understand their potential taking into account the constraints and ethical use of ICT; stay current on the state of the art.
  • FIND AND COLLECT: find useful information on the Web (for both study and work); assess quality and opportunities to use it; collect and store data according to their goals.
  • PROCESS AND ANALYZE: effectively use the right tools to process information in a consistent format, according to the intended use (with particular focus on the spreadsheets).
  • SHARE AND COMMUNICATE: choose and effectively use the right tools to share and communicate the results of their work (presentation, communication, collaboration tools).
The four areas of expertise define four sections of the course, integrated one to the other to reach the final objective: provide students with the soft skills to seek, process, analyze, represent and communicate data, immediately applicable in their studies and fundamental to enter the job market.

Detailed Description of Assessment Methods
The exam can be taken in two ways: with two partial exams or as a single general exam.
  • The set of two partial exams is intended only for students who regularly attend the lessons and specifically refer to the chapters mentioned in the course syllabus. Only first-year students can sit midterm exams. It is not possible to sit or repeat midterm exams in the following years;
  • the single general exam is for students who have not sat or passed the midterm exams. This exam refers to the complete textbook.
In both cases, the exam consists of multiple choice questions and computer exercises. The software used is Microsoft Office 2010 for Windows.

Textbooks
  • A. Clerici (editor), Computer skills for economics handbook, EGEA, 2014.
For the partial exams: only the chapters mentioned in the course syllabus.
For the general exams: all the textbook.

Prerequisites
In order to enroll in the exam for this course (second partial or general), one of the following basic ICT certifications must be achieved: ECDL Core (Full or Full Standard), IC3 2005 Plus, IC3 GS3. Some advanced certifications are accepted in lieu of the basic ones: ECDL Advanced (all of the four certifications), MOS/MCAS Master. Students can achieve or complete the ECDL directly in university: Università Bocconi is a Test Center for ECDL Core and Advanced certifications. Information on how to get these certifications can be found at www.unibocconi.eu/sedin in the ECDL Core and ECDL Advanced pages. Upon completing the certification, it has to be recorded by SEDIN:
  • if the certification is ECDL Core (Full or Full Standard) is achieved in Italy, this happens automatically;
  • for other certifications among those allowed, or ECDL Core achieved (entirely or partially) abroad, it is necessary to bring personally the original certification to SEDIN during opening hours.
The deadlines for the achievement of the certification (and the possible submission of documentation) to register for the exams are available on the SEDIN website, in the Prerequisite page. It is highly recommended to achieve the certification before the course of Computer skills for economics starts, because the concepts contained in the basic certifications are taken for granted in the course.
