Course Content Summary
The course takes a multi-dimensional perspective at organizations. First, organizational issues are linked to different levels of analysis, from the level of individuals to the level of institutions. Second, organizations are analyzed by means of different theories lenses rooted in psychology, sociology, and economics. Each theory is used to explain systematic differences in organizational behavior and outcomes. However, it is stressed and exemplified throughout that a deep and comprehensive understanding of organizational phenomena of managerial relevance requires the use of multiple perspectives.

Specifically, the course covers the following issues and topics:
  • Formal / informal organizational structures;
  • Organizations as governance structures;
  • Organizational routines;
