Stefano Bonini is an Assistant Professor of Finance at Bocconi University in Milan and a senior faculty member at Bocconi University SDA School of Business where he is the coordinator of the Capital Markets course in the M.Sc. in Corporate Finance. He’s a Visiting Associate Professor of Finance at NYU Stern School of Business, NY, USA since 2009 and an Adjunct Professor at Fudan University, Shanghai, China from 2006.
Stefano's research focuses on how companies raise and manage capital in financial markets, on the quality of information provided by equity and debt analysts and on the Venture Capital and Private Equity industry. In his research, he has addressed the accuracy of target prices issued by sell-side equity analysts, the efficiency of alternative equity issuing mechanism, the determinants of venture capital investments and the effects of private equity investors on the governance of firms.
Currently, Stefano is exploring the timing of information revelation in equity and debt ratings, the performance of secondary buyouts and the career effects of corporate frauds. His research has been published in the Journal of Business Ethics, Corporate Governance, Journal of Business Finance and Accounting, Small Business Economics and European Financial Management. Over the past 7 years he has been the recipient of 12 research grants from the European Union and the Italian Government University Research Program.
Stefano has served as ad-hoc referee for, among others: The Review of Finance, The Journal of Empirical Finance, The Journal of Banking and Finance, The Journal of Business Venturing, and European Financial Management. He is a permanent evaluator for the AXA doctoral research grants.
Stefano Bonini received a B.A. in Business, an M.Sc. in Business Economics and a Ph.D. in Business Economics and Finance from Bocconi University and has been a visiting research fellow at Harvard University and MIT.
