Mission & Content Summary

MISSION

The mission of this seminar is to explore the trends of cyber risks under multiple perspectives (technical, economical, geopolitical, societal) and to present the skills required to have a career in this field. The seminar provides a toolkit for students of the Master of Science in Cyber Risk Strategy and Governance including an introduction to emerging professional opportunities and challenges in the program-specific professional areas (cyber risk management and data protection and security), an introduction to relevant cyber topics and how they influence activities and value generated by companies, governments and institutions.

CONTENT SUMMARY

The course introduces key topics in cyber risks with a specific reference to:

  • Understanding the cyber risk from multiple perspectives.
  • Current professional challenges and opportunities related to cyber risk.
  • Trends and topics of cyber risks and how they affect companies, institutions and governments.

  • Recognize the trends and topics related to the cyber risk and the professional opportunities and challenges to work in this field.
  • Identify current trends and explain how they influence activities and value of companies, governments and institutions.

  • Analyse trends in cyber risk, to interpret  how they affect organisations and to connect these to professional challenges and opportunities.

  • Case studies /Incidents (traditional, online)
  • Interactive class activities (role playing, business game, simulation, online forum, instant polls)

DETAILS

The learning experience of this course includes:

  • Face-to-face lectures.
  • Guest speakers and faculty members of the program share with the students their own experience, and discuss the specificities of possible professional trajectories  and environment and the basic skills needed for their role.

ATTENDING AND NOT ATTENDING STUDENTS

  • Due to the introductory relevance of the seminar, attending classes is extremely important.
  • A written essay (pass/fail) assesses the ability of students to reflect on the contents of the course and foster their  “sense-making” analysis and interpretation of the lenses and concepts discussed and practiced in class.
