Course Objectives

A firm's ability to survive and succeed in an increasingly competitive global arena depends on its ability to understand sector dynamics and to envisage and enact optimal strategic responses. Therefore the first aim of this course is to sharpen students' understanding of the competition in different sectors with a particular focus to the highly dynamic environments. Then, the course provides analytical tools and strategic models that ground firm decision-making.
The program is centered on an interactive program, with a special attention on the comparison between the mainstream strategic approach and the specificities of the European business perspective. Students are asked to perform in activities of role playing and to take real action in simulated decision contexts. The course is characterized by a series of student presentations, both individually and in team.
