Course Objectives

This course introduces some topics of Microeconomics: the goal is to provide students with the analytical tools and the cultural elements needed to effectively understand the current economic literature and its debates.


Course Content Summary
  • Choice and time: Intertemporal consumer choice, Intertemporal choice under uncertainty, Sequential choice, Non expected utility models.
  • Topics in partial equilibrium: a dynamical analysis of partial equilibrium, Monopoly with price discrimination, Monopolistic competition.
  • Topics in general equilibrium: General equilibrium with production, the non-substitution theorem, General equilibrium without the free-disposal assumption, Regular economies, Uniqueness of equilibrium, Stability analysis with and without tâtonnements, Comparative statics analysis, the core of an economy, General equilibrium with time and uncertainty, Overlapping generations models.
