Introduction to the course:

Class 8

This course presents the mathematical concepts which are essential for other quantitative teachings (Statistics, Mathematics of Finance) and helpful for many other disciplines which are not strictly quantitative (Economics, Marketing). It also aims at introducing some mathematical models for Business and Economics, as well as the first notions in Mathematics of Finance.

  • Real Functions of a Real Variable, Graphs

  • Sequences, Series 

  • Limits, Continuity

  • Differential Calculus (one variable)

  • Applications of Differential Calculus

  • Integral Calculus  

  • Vectors, Matrices  

  • Linear Systems, Linear Functions  

  • Mathematical Models for Business and Economics  

  • Mathematics of Finance


Textbooks:

The textbooks will be indicated by the teacher on the first day of class.


Examinations:

Students will be asked to take a written examination, followed by an oral examination. The written examination can be substituted with two partial written tests.
Further details on contents and examinations will be given at the beginning of the course.
