Obiettivi formativi del corso

La lingua Inglese puo' essere scelta come:

• prima lingua dagli studenti non madrelingua inglese di tutti i corsi di laurea specialistica impartiti in lingua italiana;
• seconda lingua dagli studenti non madrelingua inglese di tutti i corsi di laurea specialistica impartiti in lingua italiana (escluso il CLSG, il cui piano studi prevede un'unica lingua obbligatoria).

L'insegnamento e' strutturato in un unico modulo annuale di preparazione al livello di uscita scelto (B2 o C1 per la prima lingua, B1 o B2 per la seconda lingua). Lo studente puo' prepararsi al livello minimo di entrata necessario nei diversi casi seguendo le indicazioni specifiche per livello disponibili nel sito www.uni-bocconi.it/centrolinguistico.

Obiettivi formativi del corso

Il Modulo B1 e' corso curriculare per gli studenti che abbiano scelto la lingua inglese come seconda lingua e abbiano optato per il livello di uscita B1.
Il modulo si rivolge a studenti con competenze linguistiche di livello A2, come definite dal Consiglio d'Europa. In termini di competenza linguistica strumentale l'obiettivo finale corrisponde a quello stabilito dal Consiglio d'Europa per il livello B1, in base al quale lo studente:

• comprende i punti chiave di argomenti di attualita' o di interesse personale;
• si esprime con disinvoltura in situazioni professionali semplici, con un lessico sufficientemente vario;
• comprende brevi testi scritti di linguaggio socio economico;
• sa produrre un testo aziendale semplice relativo ad argomenti noti;
• sa riportare un'informazione, descrivere esperienze e avvenimenti e spiegare brevemente le ragioni delle proprie opinioni.

La didattica tiene conto del fatto che l'acquisizione delle competenze linguistiche e' finalizzata all'utilizzo in ambito professionale.

Programma sintetico del corso

Le attivita' d'aula offrono agli studenti la possibilita' di sperimentare la lingua inglese sia come materia che come mezzo di comunicazione con un particolare riguardo al controllo di forme e strutture fondamentali della lingua e all'aumento del vocabolario attivo relativo al Business English.
L'impostazione complessiva della didattica parte dall'analisi di situazioni reali e testi, orali e scritti. Si approfondiscono sia gli aspetti piu' propriamente comunicativi e pragmatici sia la competenza nell'utilizzo di strutture morfosintattiche piu' complesse. Particolare riguardo va alla capacita' di selezionarle e usarle in modo appropriato a seconda dei contesti. Viene dedicato spazio anche all'analisi della sintassi della frase e del periodo.
L'attivita' d'aula privilegia l'interazione orale, favorendo la discussione e lo scambio di informazioni che simulano le situazioni reali in un contesto professionale.
Le attivita' volte allo sviluppo dell'abilita' di comprensione prevedono per lo piu' lavoro su testi di breve durata.
Le attivita' di lettura sono volte a favorire lo sviluppo di strategie efficaci e a familiarizzare gli studenti con diverse tipologie di generi testuali in vista della produzione autonoma di testi.

Il Corso si conclude con l'esame di livello B1.

Descrizione dettagliata delle modalità d'esame

L'esame si compone di una prova scritta e di una prova orale. L'accesso alla prova orale e' subordinato al superamento della prova scritta con valutazione pari o superiore a 18/30. La validita' della prova scritta e' estesa ai tre appelli orali immediatamente successivi. La partecipazione allo scritto di tali appelli con consegna del compito, annulla la prova scritta precedente. Inoltre, a seguito della positiva partecipazione al corso, gli studenti frequentanti possono in alcuni casi incrementare il voto finale dell'esame di 1 o 2 trentesimi definiti dal docente e con validita' limitata (informazioni dettagliate sono riportate nei programmi d'esame di ogni lingua disponibili all'indirizzo www.unibocconi.it/centrolinguistico - Corsi di laurea specialistica - programmi d'aula e programmi d'esame).

Obiettivi formativi del corso

The B1 module is a Curriculum Course for those students who have chosen English as their second language, and have opted for the B1 exit level.
The module is designed for those students who already have an A2 proficiency level. The objective of the course is to help students acquire the language skills defined by the Council of Europe in the B1 proficiency level of the Common European Framework.
The course will focus on helping the students:

• to increase their ability to use the fundamental grammatical and structural forms in English;
• to increase their range of  vocabulary;
• to acquire a general Business English vocabulary;
• to improve their ability to communicate;
• to begin the process of acquiring the ability to understand authentic texts.

The course takes into account the fact that students are learning the language for use in professional situations.

Programma sintetico del corso

In the classroom, instruction will focus on giving the students experience working with, and working in, English. Special attention will be given to strengthening the students' control of the fundamental forms and structures in English, and to increasing the students' active vocabulary, with a particular focus on general business vocabulary. 
In addition, classroom activities will offer the students the opportunity to develop the ability to handle everyday routines at school and in offices. These routines include such diverse tasks as filling out an application, and taking a message. Students will get experience with these routines through listening passages, video clips, and oral activities.
Another focus in the classroom will be to help students learn to express opinions, thoughts, and ideas.
Classroom activities will also seek to promote the students' acquisition of effective strategies for dealing with authentic texts, both spoken and written. These activities will help students learn to work with unfamiliar vocabulary, conversations between native speakers, etc.
The course will conclude with a written and oral exam.

The exam consists of a written paper and an oral exam. Students can only take the oral exam if they have already passed the written part and obtained a mark of at least 18/30 or higher. The mark for the written paper is also valid for the next three oral exam sessions. If the written exam is taken another time and the exam is handed in for correction, this automatically cancels the previous written mark (grade). Moreover, provided a student attends a course with attention and active participation, their final exam mark can be increased by a maximum of two points. The level of each individual student's participation in the course will be established by the teacher and is dependent on the students having attended at least 70%, of not more, of the lessons and their level of involvement during the lessons and on their having completed the assigned tasks.

• e' in grado di scrivere un documento professionale sviluppando un'argomentazione, fornendo motivazioni a favore o contro un determinato punto di vista e spiegando vantaggi e svantaggi delle diverse opzioni;
• e' in grado di sintetizzare informazioni e argomentazioni tratte da diverse fonti;
• sa presentare in modo coerente e dettagliato argomenti legati alla propria area di studio o di lavoro.

La didattica tiene conto del fatto che l'acquisizione delle competenze linguistiche e' finalizzata all'utilizzo in ambito professionale.

Programma sintetico del corso

Le attivita' finalizzate allo sviluppo delle competenze sono contestualizzate in una prospettiva di tipo professionale. È pertanto prevista un'introduzione al linguaggio settoriale, incentrata in particolar modo su situazioni di vita professionale e temi di rilevanza economica e sociale. Il ricorso a case-studies consente l'apprendimento della lingua per scopi specifici in modo naturale e integrato, favorendo l'acquisizione di competenza lessicale e sensibilita' agli aspetti comunicativi e pragmatici.
Le attivita' di listening comprehension sono volte a sviluppare capacita' di ascolto anche su testi di una certa lunghezza e complessita', con comprensione attiva e acquisizione di informazioni a fini di rielaborazione. Nell'area della scrittura si presta particolare attenzione all'organizzazione dei testi secondo le convenzioni dei diversi generi testuali, soprattutto nel contesto professionale, favorendo la capacita' di gestire argomentazioni articolate in modo chiaro e dettagliato.
Alle attivita' di produzione orale e' dedicato spazio sia in forma interattiva (discussioni, dibattiti, semplici simulazioni di negoziati/trattative) sia in forma monologica (brevi relazioni orali).
Per quanto riguarda le competenze strettamente linguistiche, in sede didattica si procede al rafforzamento di strutture gia' note, con attivita' che rendano consapevole il discente dei contesti d'uso e del loro impiego.

• to increase their fluency in English.

The course takes into account the fact that students are learning the language for use in professional situations.

In the classroom, instruction will focus on giving the students exposure to the vocabulary they need to operate - in English - in the business world. This exposure will come from a variety of sources: listening passages; video clips; reading passages taken from authentic sources; and from the students themselves.
In addition, classroom activities will offer the students the opportunity to work with the forms and structures of English, giving them the experience which is necessary for developing the control and range needed for effective communication in a foreign language.
Classroom activities will also seek to promote the students' fluency in English, through oral activities and written assignments. All these activities will be based on topics and situations found in a business environment.
The course will conclude with a written and oral exam.

Il corso si rivolge a studenti con competenze linguistiche di livello B2. In termini di competenza linguistica strumentale l'obiettivo finale corrisponde a quello stabilito dal Consiglio d'Europa per il livello C1, in base al quale lo studente e' in grado di:

• fare un'esposizione chiara e ben strutturata di un argomento complesso, sviluppando in modo abbastanza esteso i punti di vista e sostenendoli con dati supplementari, motivazioni ed esempi pertinenti;
• esprimere con precisione le proprie idee e opinioni, presentare argomentazioni complesse e rispondere in modo convincente a quelle presentate da altri;
• scrivere un documento professionale per sviluppare un argomento in modo sistematico, mettendo opportunamente in evidenza i punti significativi e gli elementi a loro sostegno;
• valutare idee e soluzioni diverse ad un problema;
• sintetizzare informazioni e argomentazioni tratte da diverse fonti;
• redigere un testo scritto che rispetti standard convenzionali di impaginazione e strutturazione in paragrafi.

In the classroom, instruction will focus on giving the students the opportunity to develop their presentation skills. The students will be expected to produce a wide range of texts, both spoken and written, on a wide range of business-related topics.
In addition, classroom activities will look to increase the students' ability to work with authentic texts. These texts will come from a variety of sources: listening passages; video clips; reading passages taken from authentic sources; student presentations etc.
Classroom activities will also seek to promote the students' ability to use a refined level of vocabulary, so that they can understand and make sophisticated distinctions in meaning.
The course will conclude with a written and oral exam.
