Course Objectives

The course provides the basics of international business through the study of multinational enterprises in world business. The first half of the course focuses on theories of international trade/business, the role of environmental factors, mainly culture and government, in international business. The second half of the course covers in detail, strategies of planning and organizing international operations, alternative market-entry mechanisms, and function-specific (human resource, production, marketing) strategies in the international context.

Detailed Description of Assessment Methods
  • Group Project (30%): Students will be required to work in teams on an international business project. A written project report will be due at the end of the semester.
  • Exam (70%): There will be one exam at the end of the semester consisting of a written part, which is compulsory, and an oral part that is not compulsory. Students with grades from written exams of min. 16 points may sustain an oral exam which may change their original grade within a range of -2 up to +2. The oral exam has to be sustained in the same period in which the written exam was taken and cannot be repeated.
