Course Objectives

This course offers a comprehensive treatment of the basic concepts and fundamental principles of statistical estimation and testing. Emphasis is placed on developing an appreciation of enlightened applied statistical analysis.


Course Content Summary

Topics include: basic data analysis, probability, random variables and probability distributions, discrete distributions, continuous distributions, sampling distributions, estimation, testing including comparing two populations.
The remainder of the course covers the regression model, which is the most widely used statistical tool.


Detailed Description of Assessment Methods

The exam can be taken in two different ways:

Students can sit two partial exams (1st partial exam midway through the course and 2nd partial exam at the end of the course) or can sit the general written exam.
