This optional course offers a focus on specific topics of the Law of International Organisations. The selected topic is the legal relationships of the European Union (EU) with non-member States and international organisations. The EU is now an important international actor and its external activity is conducted within a consolidated legal framework where EU law and International Law come across. The course is intended to provide the students the knowledge and understanding of the institutional and legal framework of the external policy of the European Union, of the international agreements and legal instruments employed in relations with non-member countries or groups of countries, of the rules governing the membership of the EU in international organizations. Direct access to the main legal sources, including relevant treaty sources, other foreign policy instruments and case-law, as well as literature in the field, will give to the students the necessary skills usually requested by International Organisations for legal internships.
