0749 - STRATEGIA E POLITICA AZIENDALE (THE ENTERPRISE AND INTERNATIONAL MARKETS) (INSEGNAMENTO IN LINGUA INGLESE)

Istituto di Economia Aziendale

Presentazione generale del corso:

This course will endeavour to help students better understand and deal with the analytical, behavioural, creative, and ethical aspects of business strategy. To accomplish this objective the course will deal with the assessment, formulation and implementation of critical business decisions.
Through a series of readings, case studies and projects students will be expected, both individually and in groups, to integrate their knowledge about the functional components of business (Finance, Marketing, Accounting, Management, Operations and MIS) to make strategic decisions and to justify those decisions through oral and written communication.
The course will be conducted in English and will include both oral and written assignments. Attendance is necessary for all students expecting to pass the course, as this sequence requires a significant amount of work, both inside and outside of class. It is intended for those students committed to developing their skills and expanding their knowledge of Business Strategy.

Programma del corso:

Class meetings will be held once per week for three hours. Each sessions will be devoted to a combination of theoretical analysis, case discussion, and/or student presentations and will include the following:

  1. The analysis and discussion of specific theoretical models (see course outline for the details of assigned readings).
  2. The analysis and discussion of business problems - including the search for alternative solutions and a grasp of their ramifications - which will be presented in the form of case studies (see course outline for the details of assigned cases).
  3. Individual presentations based on current news events that are relevant to the content of the course (see Extra Credit).
  4. Group "consulting" project presentations (see Group Consulting Project).
Because the course will emphasize the use of facts, figures, numbers and examples that support ideas and concepts, all students are expected to read the syllabus and come to class prepared to contribute to discussions and group activities. "Prepared" means having read the assigned materials in advance of class, and invested the needed time and effort to develop insightful opinions. As you will see later class participation is 25% of the grade for the course so it is rather important!
