The course aims at equipping students with tools to interpret the economics of competition policy intervention. Moreover, the course will compare the Italian, the European and the US approach to anti-trust policy, and it will discuss prominent Italian and international anti-trust cases.
- Competition policy: history, objective, and the law
- Market power and welfare: introduction
- Market definition and the assessment of market power
- Collusion and horizontal agreements
- Horizontal mergers
- Vertical restraints and vertical mergers
- Predation, monopolization and other abusive practices
The exam will be in written form.
Students may take the exam either in two parts: a 1st partial exam and a 2nd partial exam, or as one general exam at the end of the course.
