MISSION

Global Supply Chain Management and Procurement have become increasingly important in supporting corporate strategies for manufacturer and service companies. The role of the supply chain is not merely related to the economic performance of the firm, but it also affects the financial stability and the value proposition. Offshoring and globalization of the operations have increased the complexity of the supply chain and the extent of the related risks. Volatility in demand and uncertainty in forecasting force the companies to integrate processes and flows, both within and beyond the company borders. Chief Purchasing Officers and Supply Chain Managers are key roles in every company, supporting business initiatives with strategic decisions. Lead time reduction, flexibility in volumes, fast reaction processes gained the same importance as cost-cutting initiatives and savings optimization. The organization is fully involved in end-to-end business processes, and functional managers have now a wider scope and perspective then in the past.

DETAILS

During the course we will have

  • Rialto. Global supply challenge. A Business Game that is the backbone of the course. We will have assignments on pre-played games and we will play a 12 months period taking all the supply chain decisions as a CPO, COO, CLO, CMO, CFO of the company.
  • Exercises, Excel based, to test different approaches in inventory management
  • Group work in the assignment of Rialto (3 assignment)

ATTENDING STUDENTS

Attending students = active group members in the Rialto assignments

 

Written individual exam 35% (was 30% before coronavirus) aimed to assess students’
ability to apply the analytical tools illustrated during the course selecting the best option
to be taken by a manager. It is mandatory to pass the individual exam (get at least
16/30). The exam will use the BBoard test section (multiple choice questions) with
Respondus monitor.


Group assignment 65% (was 70% before coronavirus) aimed to assess students’ ability
to apply the analytical tools illustrated during the course to the complex environment
proposed by the business game Rialto, highlighting relationship between company's
performances and supply chain decisions.


The weight of each assignment is:

NOT ATTENDING STUDENTS

Written exam 100% aimed to assess students’ ability to apply the analytical tools illustrated
during the course proposing a critical view on supply chain decision, approaches and tools. The
exam will use the BBoard test section (essay questions) with Respondus monitor.
