EMIT
Department of Management and Technology
Course taught in English
ALFONSO GAMBARDELLA
Course Objectives
The goal of the course is to introduce the fundamental concepts of competitive strategy. It starts with the notion of firms and its theory, the boundaries of the firm and related strategic choices (e.g. make or buy). It then moves to competition and competitive strategy. In so doing, the course uses tools and theories from the analysis of contracts, barganining and innovation. Along with structural and theoretical analyses, it provides the students with case studies and current examples of competitive strategy cases. The course is based on traditional lectures, interactive sessions, cases and analyses related to real business problems to allow students to understand both the theoretical underpinnings and the practical implications of the concepts.
